About the role
As the HR & Safety Officer in Ethiopia you will be part of a brave, smart and passionate HR team reporting directly to the Country Manager with Matrix reporting line to Head of HR. You will be working towards realizing our vision to create a world where all children reach their full potential, by unleashing the power of entrepreneurship and innovation, by working for One Reach for Change and ensuring our core values are integrated into our culture and ways of working as an organization. In line with the overall long-term strategy for the organization you will be responsible for providing vital HR support and safety assistance to the local office and employees in Ethiopia. You will be the local point of contact for employees regarding HR-related issues and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations as well as playing a key role in assisting with the implementation of HR policies and procedures, handling employee queries, managing HR documents, supporting the recruitment and onboarding process. As focal person for staff safety and security, you will ensure the safety of the office meeting the standard, assess security information, provide travel clearance and conduct security briefing to visitors. Main HR Responsibilities:
Serve as a point of contact for employee queries regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures in Ethiopia.
Manage all HR documents, such as employment contracts, offer letters, staff leave tracking, performance evaluations and ensure data accuracy in the HR system in line with organizational policy.
Support in tracking and renewal of regular staff contracts, and facilitate approval for renewals in a timely manner
Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and global and internal policies by staying updated on changes in employment legislation and advising on necessary actions.
Assist in the recruitment process by posting job ads, screening resumes, CV’s, and scheduling interviews.
Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires, including paperwork, orientation, and training.
Assist in organizing HR events, such as training sessions, workshops etc and co-facilitate and motivate team participation in team meetings (e.g. Q&A’s, Virtual hangouts etc.).
Support the performance management process and assist in the implementation of performance improvement plans by identifying training needs based on performance evaluations and employee feedback.
Work closely with the global HR team and input to the strategic HR offerings and direction of the organization and contribute to HR-related internal comms when needed e.g. ongoing HR updates, Q&As. etc.
Support the implementation and leverage of new and existing key HR tools & processes, including cascading and implementing RfC wellbeing policy and initiatives.
Safety Related Responsibilities
Be the to-go person in the office in relation to the physical, psychological, social safety and wellbeing at the office and support in creating a safety and security management system and culture within the organization.
Provide on-arrival security briefing to all visitors and new staff members.
Ensure staff members receive timely information on matters that may affect their safety and security
- Monitor the measures implemented to prevent health issues and accidents in the workplace. These may include:
Run the yearly mandatory safety inspection and reviews of the work environment at the office.
Initiate Measures to highlight and solve deficiencies in the work environment as soon as possible.
Taking part in identifying and planning all issues that concern the working environment. These may include:
Discussions prior to redecorating, rebuildings, or relocation.
Preparations for a reorganization & plans for implementation of new working methods.
Work closely with all staff to ensure that safety and security incidents are reported timely

Education & experience:
We expect you to tick of some of the below:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
Min 2 years of proven experience as HR Officer, HR Assistant, or similar role.
Professional knowledge of HR functions, policies, and best practices.
Knowledge of laws that regulate the relationship between employer and employee.
Understanding of labor laws and regulations.
Experience in managing safety and security matters
Experienced user in relevant computer programs (e.g. Google drive, Gmail, Excel and PP) for day-to-day work. As well as the ability to solve unforeseen technical challenges and problems on a basic level.
