About the role
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Controller to strengthen our team. In this key role, you will be responsible for the financial coordination of projects both in Sweden and across our international subsidiaries.
Your main focus will be to ensure that projects run smoothly from a financial perspective - from planning and budgeting, through implementation, to final reporting. This includes providing accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring compliance with organizational and statutory requirements, and providing hands-on support to both local and global colleagues. This role suits someone who is financially savvy, structured and able to manage multiple priorities, but also comfortable navigating complexity and change. You will be a critical part of ensuring that our team can deliver high-impact projects in a sustainable and well-governed way.

Main responsibilities:
1) Managing of the day-to-day financial aspects of projects run by the Swedish and Latvia legal entities
Oversee the financial management and quality control of project-related financial transactions and reporting.
Provide financial support to Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external financial regulations.
Develop and maintain efficient financial processes and routines to streamline operations.
Support the Finance team with project-specific financial tasks, including budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
Lead project audits and assist with the annual auditing process by providing financial data and insights.
2) Managing the financial analysis, follow-up and reporting for projects
Plan, prepare and present monthly financial reports, including any interim reports, tailored to the needs of project managers, management, donors and partners.
Lead the development and refinement of internal reporting and controlling processes.
Conduct thorough budget vs. actual (BvA) analysis, identify deviations and propose solutions.
Manage relationships with project managers, donors and partners to ensure alignment and compliance with and that donor-specific financial requirements.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with and convey information clearly across stakeholder groups.
Qualifications & Experience:
We do not expect candidates to meet every requirement, but we are looking for candidates who possess most of the following:
1-5 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting - ideally in a nonprofit or project-based environment.
Experience with donor or grant reporting (e.g. EU or similar) is an advantage.
University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, as well as project control processes such as tracking budgets, timelines and cost control.
Familiarity with financial audits and basic compliance procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, along with strong IT skills and familiarity with Google Suite.
Professional fluency in both spoken and written English and Swedish.
